Applications are open for our next round of individual funding. We invite applications for the Borrin Foundation Women Leaders in Law Fellowship, the Borrin Foundation-Community Law Fellowships and Travel and Learning Awards. Applications close 26 April 2022.

Applications are open for the following awards

Borrin Foundation Women Leaders in Law Fellowship

We invite proposals from women who are on a journey to becoming leaders in the legal world in Aotearoa New Zealand. A pool of $50,000 is available. Women must have at least 10 years’ experience in law at the time of applying. The Fellowship can be used for professional development courses, further study including postgraduate degree, or an ‘inquiry project’. It should build the leadership capacity of the Fellow. Our inaugural Fellows are Helen Dervan and Natalie Pierce.

Borrin Foundation-Community Law Fellowship

Lawyers working at Community Law Centres are invited to design their own fellowship in consultation with us and their host Community Law Centre. A pool of $80,000 is available. Our inaugural Fellows include: Sarah Barnaart, Sarah Croskery-Hewitt and Digby Livingston.

Borrin Foundation Travel and Learning Awards

Open to all legal professionals in Aotearoa New Zealand at all stages in their career. This includes members of the judiciary (current and retired Judges), lawyers in the private or public sector, legal academics, and postgraduate law students. 12 awards of up to $10k are available per year. Previous recipients include: Metiria Stanton Turei and Luke Fitzmaurice.
