Te Kura Rōia 2023

Te Kura Rōia is a three day full immersion intensive kura reo designed to lift the capability of te reo Māori speakers within the legal community.

About the project

Te Kura Rōia, also known as Te Kura Reo a Te Hunga Rōia Māori o Aotearoa, is a Māori language programme based on the Kura Reo language transmission approach. It creates an opportunity for legal professionals to connect over three days in a full immersion setting with a focus on building language proficiency and supporting the transfer of knowledge in the legal community. The event is organised by Tātai Ture, Tātai Reo which is the language committee of Te Hunga Rōia Māori o Aotearoa (Māori Law Society). The kura will run from 28-30 November 2023 in at Te Noho Kotahitanga Marae in Tāmaki Makaurau. Registration are full. You can join the waitlist here: http://bit.ly/3sTIgxC

About Te Hunga Rōia Māori o Aotearoa

Te Hunga Rōia Māori o Aotearoa is The Māori Law Society. Te Hunga Rōia Māori o Aotearoa was formally established in 1988 and has grown to include a significant membership of legal practitioners, judges, parliamentarians, legal academics, policy analysts, researchers and Māori law students. As a voluntary organisation the executive committee all work fulltime.

Te Hunga Rōia Māori o Aotearoa is the representative body of Māori lawyers and Māori law students in Aotearoa New Zealand. Tātai Ture, Tātai Reo is the language branch of the association that was put together a number of years ago in response to a growing need for focussed te reo Māori training for legal professionals.
